Napoleon was born in 1769 on August 15. He was the second son of Carlo and Letezia Bonaparte. When he was very young he was sent to a prestigious military school.
His father was passed away long before and in order to support the entire family. He joined the French Imperial Army and became a Second Lieutenant of Artillery.
In 1791, with the help of Joseph by then a local political figure, he became a lieutenant colonel in the Corsican National Guard. But when France went to war in 1792, officers were scarce. Napoleon return to Paris and was promote to captain. He was there when on August 10, the mobs storm the Tuileries and imprison Louis XVI. Still seeing
an opportunity for himself in Corsica, he went to serve with the Corsican Guard and, leader.They were blacklisted by Pasquale Paoli, January 1793 sentenced Louis XVI to
be executed, Paoli called for British aid, declared Corsica independent, and outlawed all Francophiles-the Buonaparte family by name. They managed to escape to France,where
in June 1793,Joseph setted Letizia and the younger children near Marseille, and Napoleon went back to the army.
Napoleon became the emperor of France from 1804 to 1814. He was also skilled ruler. Under Napoleon, France signed peace treaties with two of its enemies-Great Britain
and Austria. He also had many laws changed.In 1804 the people of France elected Napoleon as their emperor.
In 1815, Napoleon returned to France. He became emperor again,but his rule did not last long. On June 18, Napoleon fought the British and the Prussians at Waterloo.
Napoleon's troops lost this battle, and Napoleon gave up his throne again. He was sent to the British island of ST. Helena, in the South Atlantic Ocean. He died on May 5,1821.
